Weather.com is set to increase its visitor numbers even further after its umbrella group
signed a deal with online business optimisation software provider Omniture.
The move by the Weather Channel Interactive group looks set to see the expansion of the
site and improve it in a bid to attract even more customers to Weather.com.
Software provided by Omniture will give the website's overseers a better idea of how its
customers use the site and interact with online articles, video clips, advertisements
and other website features.
Dan Agronow, chief technology officer of the group, said: "Our sites are visited by more
than 30 million people every month so it is vital that we provide an informative and
relevant online experience for our audience.
"Utilising Omniture's real-time, flexible reporting will enable us to not only run a
more efficient online property, but will also help increase visitor engagement and
interaction."
Figures recently released by Nielsen show that the Weather Channel Brand attracted an
average of 36.9 million unique visitors a month in 2007.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Weather.com could be put up for sale with a
price tag of $5 billion.
New York Times journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin, who broke the news of a potential sale,
said that the site "ranks as the nation's 18th largest media site by traffic" adding
that it is "bigger than CNN and Facebook". |
